The production of the Historic Environment Strategy for Yorkshire and the Humber Region is the culmination of 18 months of consultation with a wide range of organisations and individuals. After an initial workshop in February 2007, a consultation draft was published the following November. Over 60 responses were received from various organisations including regional agencies, Local Authorities, Civic Societies and a range of voluntary groups.
The following documents chart the consultation process:
The following document sets out areas of general concensus from the consultation process. It does not cover all the issues raised by the consultation but covers those areas where there was general agreement. The Historic Environment Forum at its meeting on the 7th February 2008, considered the issues raised by the consultation process and proposed a series of recommendations which will be taken forward in the revised draft of the strategy.
This consultation document has been prepared on behalf of the Yorkshire and Humber Historic Environment Forum. It has been developed through discussion with a number of different organisations who have an interest in the region’s heritage. A large number of issues emerged from those discussions and these have been formulated into this draft strategy document.
The Regional Heritage Strategy Consultation Draft has been developed by the Yorkshire and Humber Historic Environment Forum. More information on the Forum is available here www.yhref.org.uk. The consultation is very important to us and we are keen to get the views of as many people and organisations as possible. We would welcome comments via the website or through written response see ‘how to contribute’.
